Oxford Gardens Primary School chose to use the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) to motivate and inspire pupils in daily lessons in October 2009 and since this time it has changed the face of learning at Oxford Gardens.
The planning of topics is monitored carefully, and statutory National Curriculum requirements are met. Literacy and mathematics are taught as discrete subjects, but where possible links are made. Length of topics vary from 3 weeks to 12 weeks and they all start with an entry point to engage the pupils and end with an exit point to celebrate what they have learnt.
The International Primary Curriculum has been introduced to combine many foundation subjects, relating learning to real life situations and introducing an international dimension. This has been an important factor in helping the pupils to become responsible, successful, independent and confident learners.
