Curriculum Overview

At Oxford Gardens our curriculum is designed to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive and flourish.  Teachers make learning experiences challenging and inspiring; nurturing a lifelong love of learning.  We aspire for every child to be a confident, responsible, successful, innovative and independent learner.  Our school focuses on success for all, delivering an education that equips everyone with the tools to enter the world, ready to make a difference and leave their legacy. 

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) comprises of Nursery and Reception.  EYFS follow the Early Learning Goals please follow the link below for more information on how these are delivered.

Key Stage 1 comprises of Year 1 and Year 2.  Key Stage 2 comprises of Years 3-6.

In Key Stage 1, History, Geography, Art, DT and Science are taught entirely through our International Primary Curriculum (IPC) topics.  English is linked to our IPC topic if appropriate and relevant. Maths, Phonics, Computing, PSHE, Music, RE and PE are taught discreetly.

In Key Stage 2, History, Geography, DT and Science are taught entirely through our IPC topics.  English and Art are linked to our IPC topic if appropriate and relevant. Maths, Guided Reading, MFL, Computing, PSHE, Music, Food Technology and PE are taught discreetly.

Our curriculum is underpinned by a vibrant range of enrichment activities including high quality trips and visitors which enhance the learners’ understanding.

Subject leaders, alongside the Senior Leadership Team, play an important part in the success of the curriculum through a regular programme of monitoring, evaluation and review.  Through this rigorous practice we constantly adapt the curriculum to the needs and interests of the learners ensuring the inclusive nature of the school is maintained.   The impact of this ever-evolving curriculum enables all young people to have confidence take risks with their learning and succeed despite the challenges they may face.
