Are you looking for a rewarding role supporting children in a friendly and vibrant school community? Oxford Gardens Primary School (London, W10) is seeking a dedicated Lunchtime Supervisor to join our supportive staff team.

 

About the role: You will play an important part in our pupils’ day, supervising and supporting them during lunch and playtimes to ensure their safety, wellbeing and happiness. Your responsibilities will include:

 

· Supervising pupils either in the dining hall or playground

· Encouraging safe, positive, and inclusive behaviour

· Assisting with dining arrangements and good hygiene practices

· Engaging children in inclusive play and creative activities

· Supporting children with SEND

· Reporting incidents and concerns to senior staff including first aid and safeguarding incidents

Lunchtime Supervisor – Job Description

Location: Oxford Gardens Primary School (London, W10) Hours: 5 days per week, 2 hours per day (term time only) Salary: Scale 2 Point 4 Full time salary £30,654 (Pro Rata £7,663.50)

 

Main Purpose of the Role

To supervise and support primary school pupils during lunch and playtimes, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and positive behaviour, while promoting inclusive and engaging activities.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Supervise pupils in the dining hall, playground, and other school areas during lunch and playtimes

· Ensure pupil safety and support positive behaviour in line with school policies

· Assist with the organisation of dining arrangements, including seating and queue management

· Support and encourage good hygiene practices among pupils

· Engage children in inclusive play and activities, fostering positive relationships

· Report accidents, incidents, and behaviour concerns to senior staff promptly

· Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to assist children with additional needs

· Provide basic first aid if required (training provided)

· Contribute to a safe, caring and stimulating environment for all pupils

 

Person Specification

Qualifications and training

· Good standard of general education (GCSE Maths and English or equivalent desirable)

· Willingness to undertake relevant training (e.g., safeguarding, first aid)

Experience

· Experience of working with children in a school or similar environment is desirable but not essential

· Experience supporting children with additional needs is an advantage

Skills and knowledge

· Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults

· Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

· Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team

· Awareness of behaviour management strategies

Personal qualities

· Friendly, approachable, and positive manner

· Reliable and punctual

· Calm under pressure and able to use initiative

· Commitment to upholding the values and ethos of Oxford Gardens Primary School

· A genuine interest in supporting children’s welfare and development
