We hope that you and your children are safe and well and that you have managed to have some kind of break over the holiday period.

We just wanted to write to explain a little more about how Seesaw will work from now until half term and to explain the arrangements for children with an entitlement to free school meals.

Free School Meals

If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, they are automatically entitled to free school meals.  If they are in Years 3-6, only some children will be entitled. If you are unsure whether you are entitled or not, please call the office.

We will be offering families 2 food parcels per week, which will provide them with enough food to feed their child 5 lunches.  These can be collected from the back gate on Mondays and Wednesdays 12-1. Please make sure that you wear a face mask and observe social distancing when collecting these.  The first collection date will be Wednesday 6th January 2021.

Seesaw

Hopefully, yesterday your child had a chance to log into Seesaw and get started on some learning. Our intention with remote learning is to keep the children’s learning moving forward, whilst not placing undue stress on you and your families.  We have outlined below what will be posted for each year group and on which days, but if you cannot manage all of this, please just send the teacher a message on Seesaw.  The beauty of Seesaw is that it allows your child to access the learning at their own pace, at a time that works for you and your family.

Nursery

These children will have 3 pieces of learning posted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays that will be Literacy (or topic), phonics and Maths.  Then on Tuesdays and Thursdays they will have 1 other piece of learning (PE or PSHE).  But do remember, that these children are very little and may not manage this. That is fine, let them choose the things that they like to do and just focus on those. The most important thing is that they are safe and happy at home.

Reception/Year 1

4 pieces of learning will be posted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. These will be Maths, phonics, Literacy and IPC.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays, one other piece of learning will be posted (PE or PSHE).

Year 2-6

This will follow roughly the school timetable. Each day at 9am children will have new learning set. They will have daily Maths, Literacy, Guided Reading (or phonics) and an afternoon lesson. This will be either IPC/PE/PSHE.

Teachers or other members of staff will be calling you either later in the week or next week, to check in with the children and offer any support that we can. These phone calls will come from No Caller ID.

Our intention is not to place any pressure on you and your families. We know that this is an incredibly difficult time for everyone and simply taking care of your family and looking after yours and your children’s mental health is a lot to ask right now.  Your children have adapted so brilliantly to coming in and out of lockdown and they made excellent progress last term in school, so please just do what you can and let us know if we can help in any way.
