Year 2 have really enjoyed the start of the Autumn term! We have been deepening our learning about the Human Body in IPC and are very much looking forward to our trip to the Natural History Museum next week. We have also been enjoying our MEND sessions, learning all about different fruits and vegetables and fun games that keep us healthy. Additionally, we have been taking part in art lessons where we have learnt about making marks. We also had a key stage 1 poetry competition. Hamza made it to the final and gave an amazing performance.
In maths, we have been studying number patterns and have now moved on to exploring number bonds through addition and subtraction using arrays and physical manipulatives such as bead strings and unifix to help us. We are now moving on to partitioning two digit numbers to help us understand the place value of larger numbers.
In literacy, we have been studying instructional writing. We have worked on our use of imperative verbs and ordering instructions. We even created our own instructions for the three little pigs to help them build better houses. We created our own houses to help us to this.
We can’t wait for all the wonderful learning that awaits us in the last few weeks of this half term.
